These days, you can do almost anything with your phone. APPs are available for games, music, cooking, gardening, home repair, etc.

Lucky for us in the Dangerous Goods industry, a few APPs are available. The ERG Guidebook is one that has been available for a number of years.

For years NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) has published the NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards, which includes information listed by CAS number or chemical name, and includes such things as exposure limits, chemical-physical properties, personal protective equipment, respiratory information, and first aid.

  •       Now, NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards Native Application (mNPG) is available as a mobile application. The mNPG features:
  •       Searchable features such as chemical name, CAD number, or UN number
  •       Saved searches
  •       Review of all information such as exposure limits, protective equipment, physical properties, etc.

The new APP is available in Android and Apple versions. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) has created a video NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards App Features and Use Demo Video

This great tool is invaluable for those writing safety plans or creating safety data sheets. I have already downloaded my copy. What’s stopping you?

As always, ICC is here to help.
